INGREDIENTS
* 2 tablespoons butter, melted
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1 large tart apple, peeled and thinly sliced
* 1/4 cup raisins
* 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
* 3/4 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
* 1 egg, lightly beaten
* 1/4 cup shortening

DIRECTIONS
- Place melted butter in a 9-inch square baking pan. Combine sugar and cinnamon then sprinkle it over the melted butter. Put the apple slices into the pan and top it with raisins.
- Mix yeast, water, sugar, salt and 1 cup flour i a bowl. Beat well or for about 2 minutes. Add the egg, shortening and all the rest of the flour.
- Place it into the oven to bake for a minute. Drop spoonfuls of dough over the apples. Cover and leave it to double for an hour in a warm setting.
- Once doubled, place the pan into the oven and bake for 35 minutes. Invert the pan over a serving platter and serve.
- Makes 9 servings.
