According to Barbara Nowakowski from Towanda, NY, this light and fluffy popover is easy enough to make yet tastes extraordinarily. Just top it off with apple bits and sprinkle it with cinnamon and people would definitely be showering you with praise.

    INGREDIENTS

    • 4 egg whites
    • 1/2 cup fat-free milk
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon butter or stick margarine, melted
    • 1/8 teaspoon salt
    • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped peeled apple
    • 1/2 cup apple jelly
    • 2 tablespoons water
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    DIRECTIONS

In a big mixing container whisk the egg whites, salt, butter, milk and flour until it becomes free of lumps. Fill your eight inch lightly oiled square baking pan with batter. Then set your oven to 400 degrees F and let it cook for twenty to twenty five minutes until the color turns golden brown and they start puffing out. While in a small pan mix in the cinnamon, water, jelly and apples, cook them on low heat until the jelly is thoroughly dissolved and the mixture is well heated. Slice the baked popover into four them top it off with the apple mixture.
